Looks like ill be going to Android.
Why? You know, arguably the best Android phone out right now (the Nexus S) still basically has the same processor and a lower res screen than the iPhone 4. In fact, I think the iPhone 4 will easily pass the test of time until September, especially if it gets some iOS 5 goodness in the summer.

Looks exactly the same as the present one - with no wire, of course.
I wonder if anything else has changed (i.e. if they improved the right-click recognition or the scroll ball problems)...:confused:

Disappointing, but expected. This actually brings up more questions than answers though:
1) Is this a permanent move to a Fall Release of the iPhone?
2) When, if ever, are they going to unite the CDMA and GSM iPhone releases (possibly in iPhone 5 with "World Chip")?
3) Does this affect the timing of iOS's release, which has traditionally been released with the new iPhone and has been centered around the iPhone's hardware?
4) The iPod touch has traditionally been released months after the iPhone. If the iPhone is released around Sept, will they release the iPod touch along with it?

Kids are only as responsible as their parents. Would you give your kid $1000 cash to walk around the mall with and blame the store if they sold the kid a pack of gum using your cash? Of course not. It's not the kid's fault, 100% irresponsible parents. They gave their kids a form of payment (yeah, an iphone is an electronic payment method just like a credit card), and but not for that action the charge wouldn't have taken place. I don't want to have to press BUY 5 times and enter my password 5 times because Shaniqwa can't supervise her 8 kids who she gives an iPod with a billing account tied to her name to. they deserved it. if the kid is stupid enough to look at a 1000 dollar app and hit download he shouldnt get a refund. hey i just put a gas hose in my car, i didnt expect gas to come out and i had to pay. any how why would the mother give a 11 year old access to her credit card? dumb move. she deserved it too. she could type the pass for him or give him a blank account and buy gift cards for him.

I'll be quite disappointed and most likely skip my first generation of iPhone if they don't integrate 4g antennas. If they're going to delay release (from their normal schedule) we would at least hope to see competitive hardware features with the android phones that come out on a seemingly daily basis.

The rest of the design is not so bad but I wish Apple would get over the urge to make things look like their physical incarnations. I know there is a name for this but it escapes me at the moment.

It is a bit like that, though maybe not fully, it's more visual as opposed to functional (for example in address book you don't have to 'turn' a page on the screen).
Anyway it is a bit odd, and bound to be super polarising. Personally I think I'd live with it for a while as it does help it stand out from the other dozen+ windows I tend to have open.

31,100,000,000 is alot of stamina too, I remember when m$oft got in the gaming console business there was a lot of this talk, now look at them, they sell the thing for a loss. Now imagine if they did that for the zune, a 60gb video capable for $150.00. Something to think about.........

Looks like that toolbar is just listing USB devices to me. Doesn't mean any of those will actually work under VMWare. Is there a Windows driver for built in iSight or Apple IR?
I don't know about the Apple IR, but supposedly the iSight Driver from the Bootcamp driver cd (burn the drivers using bootcamp) work splendidly, and allow you to use the iSight in a VM in VMware's app.

Windows Phone 7 might be a joke of a platform but Microsoft is going the right direction with the elimination of UI chrome.
Sadly, it looks like Apple's moving the wrong direction on the desktop.
Fake leather graphics have no functional purpose. This is what they're spending their time on?
I guess now that Macs are only 20% of Apple revenue, we're getting the "B-team" developers and designers. I give Mac OS X 3 more years, tops, before it's Apple ]['d in favor of iOS entirely.

Someone set the product list size one greater than it should be, causing the list to include an extra item. But since there is no device category, looking up the MarketingName for that device category fails.

Nope. I see every issue from the consumer perspective - as I should (being a consumer). Any other perspective would be an abomination (unless for those who hold tons of AAPL shares).
One only need to hold a few Apple shares for the value of those shares (or just the increase since the iPhone was introduced) to easily out-weigh the purchase price of most Apple products. Even a tiny percentage in some diversified fund in your or your parents 401K or IRA might add up to that.
As a consumer of a product for which I have additional expenses (for apps), I am concerned with the long term prospects of the company, so that that product will have long term support and a healthy upgrade path. Witness what happened to PalmPilots when the company couldn't keep up (all those PalmOS apps I purchased are now worthless).
One only need to hold a few Apple shares for the value of those shares (or just the increase since the iPhone was introduced) to easily out-weigh the purchase price of most Apple products. Even a tiny percentage in some diversified fund in your or your parents 401K or IRA might add up to that.

The current 3GS with the cheapest plan you can get from AT&T would cost you 90% of what the same plan and a 4 would cost you.
Not sure what's amazing about that, and I'm pretty sure that when the 5 is out, the 4 will end up costing roughly the same.

Which anyone would be anyone who would consider such a deal for 3GS now or for a 4 when 5 is out.
Considering the number of 3GS still being sold, there's a lot of math challenged iOS users out there.
I don't know if you know how math works, but there are no discounts for not having a subsidy. You don't factor in the cost of service, that is not relevant. You will pay that regardless of the handset device. My regular iPhone would cost that.
What about someone with multiple accounts? The additional line is $10 a month. You failed to consider all the factors in your math.
For people buying an expensive smartphone getting the 3GS is a good deal. Notice how they sell more of them then any other smartphone besides the iPhone 4, even when Android handset makers give away their product.
