All I know is that I went into one of the stores looking for an iPad and the manager said they were barraged by calls today about iPads.

Well, the company where I have work has 30,000 email users and it runs perfectly on a 8 Core AIX Power5 machine
Same here, except we have 2x that many users on Notes. I find it funny all the emails sent out that we get as Domain Notes Admins complaining about mail files nearing the 2GB limit (file size limitation in the version of AIX being used).

When oh when are they going to update that insanely arcane iCal "feature" on .Mac. Why isn't it easy to access my calendars from my .Mac homepage? And WHY can't I ADD an event from .Mac. So frustrating.
And can we please for the love of God get a .Mac site optimized for mobile?
Now THAT would be a great addition. Fully editable iCal web interface with the new webmail interface would make .mac a lot better.
The only things missing then would be 2GB storage and a FASTER iDisk.

That ability is there. But rather than give its customers a choice of opting in, FT would rather sell your information without your approval.
Right, I was just responding to the poster who didn't think Apple allowed users to opt-in.
Personally, I don't know why anyone would want to...

Most of the free apps I use are bundled with OSX... but there are a bunch of them, from Safari and iApps to Grab and DigitalColor Meter.
Others I use (or used to use before getting retail software to replace them) are:
-Okito Composer (word processor)
-Taco HTML Edit (great simple little app for editting web code)
-Kung Log (blog utility)
-Firefox (Web browser.. secondary to Safari)
-Poisoned (P2P)
-Transparent Dock (activates "hidden dock features")
-Audio Recorder (extremely simple recording app)

What will these device classes (and their successor innovations) be capable of in 3 years? 5? 10? 30?
The same thing we're doing on Mac desktops/laptops...right now. I'm no naysayer, the iDevices are what they are. I think the iPad/iPhone/iToy whatever name everyone attaches to them are innovative consumer devices. I think some of the backlash you are seeing is because the professional "Truck Drivin' " Apple users are wanting a bit more focus and attention on the devices that actually create the vast majority of content the iDevices were created to enjoy.
Let's face it...at the moment you're not going to be using an iThing to create the latest amazing 3D CG animation or mind blowing game and by the time those devices can do that...well, we'll be able to shout about it to each other's holograms at that point.
As someone said earlier, these devices are a great supplement to a more powerful Mac.

Question...anyone know where i can change the SD card and jumpdrive icons in Candybar?
I thought they showed up in the Device pane when they were plugged in. Is that not how it works with jump drives and SD cards?

http://www.macrumors.com/images/macrumorsthreadlogo.gif (http://www.macrumors.com/2011/03/31/adobe-shows-off-photoshop-for-ipad-with-layer-support/)
As covered by Photography Bay (http://www.photographybay.com/2011/03/30/real-photoshop-for-ipad-with-layers/), Adobe yesterday used its keynote address at Photoshop World 2011 to briefly show off a new concept for a Photoshop app for iPad offering support for layers, a significant leap beyond the capabilities found in the company's current Photoshop Express (http://appshopper.com/photography/photoshopcom-mobile) app.
Photography Bay has also posted a brief video (http://www.photographybay.com/2011/03/30/photoshop-for-ipad-live-demo/) of the demo showing how layers can be used on the iPad.
The functionality remains a demo concept with no word on when or if it will make it to a public launch, but Adobe has openly acknowledged (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/05/28/adobe-thinking-about-options-for-viewing-photoshop-files-on-ipad/) that it is looking at ways to support more complex Photoshop functionalities on tablets such as the iPad, and has even shown off concepts (http://www.macrumors.com/2010/11/05/adobe-considers-possibilities-for-iphone-and-ipad-integration-with-photoshop/) for how some of those tools might be implemented.

i agree 100%. "dynamically redraw the page"? based on WHAT?
This is my first post. It takes a lot for me to stop being a lurker, but the idea that any user can resize a textarea on a site I design, dynamically redrawing the page, is among the dumbest ideas I've ever heard. This will break valid page layouts in new and unheard of ways. Designers make form elements a size and shape for a reason.
I look forward to finding a way using JavaScript to disable that feature the day that browser is released.

Thank you, Apple, for weeding out the companies whose business model depends on selling my information to junk-mailers.
This is the kind of 'crazy-Steve-Jobs-control' I can live with.
I'm still trying to figure out where in the above quote SWC said he didn't like FT
